Buy /sell Price Funds

On most investment funds ,i tend to see buy and sell price as the same , but on a few i have noticed there is a difference.
What i want to know is , if i want to buy funds for long term investment-should any of the buy/sell differences be relevant ?

Ah okay, the spread is created by the fund managers mainly to avoid quick exiters and cover charges -if my understanding is correct?
I thought it was something to do with mkt flucuations
