Sitting nicely moored on a pontoon. A large hired boat came along and decided to moor up next to us, he kept trying to reverse in but couldn't do it, on trying to move out and moor further along he gave our bow a mighty crash. At the time we were talking to a fellow Brit who lives on his boat. He went round to the front of our boat and had a look. The boat had split the fibreglass around the anchor point. We had paid a damage deposit of €300.
I said to neighbour I suppose we will have to forfeit that. He told us to phone our boatyard in the morning. He would be a witness we had no part in it. I found a damage form in with our paperwork, I filled it in and neighbour signed it too. He reckons they will send someone out very quickly tomorrow.
What next I wonder!

Oh goodness me Caran, I hope it is sorted without you loosing your damage deposit.

Canal holidays are lovely Dave.
sunny-dave I have often wondered about a canal holiday - so many people tell me it's great fun ... I now have some doubts creeping in

Don't blame you, Dave.

Caran....do let us know how you get on with the damage claim.....so good you had a witness...x
Well we're not far apart, Tony......we could join you and Mrs AV for a canal trip......I will confess that the only time I did it a huge tree came down in front of out boat.......and we had to turn around.....and we had no pole to do it....luckily my friend was on crutches so we used those....there were weeds coming out of the holes in her crutches for days afterwards...but it was fun if you fancy it..... :-)
Mmmmmm, some quite nice pubs on the cut around my area, gness.
.luckily my friend was on crutches so we used those....

Hang on, why was your friend on crutches ?.
Sorted then, Tony!....:-)
Long story, Tony....involving a shopping trolley......will tell you when we are sailing on the canal.....x
I don't have to row do I ?.
Question Author
I thought you could row with the best of them tonyav?
Caran...how about you and I take Tony rowing?.. :-)
Question Author
That sounds a great idea gness, between us. We could row for England.
Well I'd be rowing for Ireland, Caran....so with you rowing one way and me the other I can see Tony sinking in the middle...whoops!...x
Question Author
That sounds brilliant gness, do we have to dragoon? tonyav into the situations?
You..me..and a rowing boat, Caran?.....I think Tony may need a little persuasion...... :-)
