Elusive Apples Story

As a child, I was told a story of someone who desired apples (they may have been golden) from a tree, but each time he put his hand out for them a breeze (?) blew the branches out of his reach. That might be slightly inaccurate, but something to that effect. I don't know if it was a bible story, a Greek myth, a children's fable, or what. But if any of you know what it was and can provide a link for it, I'd be grateful

Sorry for being unhelpful.

The only apple story I know is of a GP's wife who went off for a week's solo vacation and left seven apples in the Maid's bed.

It was an Old Wives tale when I was a young lad....... An apple a day keeps the doctor away.

Hans.
Probably wrong but the interaction of the wind and the tree is here.......

Thank you, but no
As the Wiki link from Hans shows there are many tales Biblical, legendary, folk tales etc on the topic of apples.

Maybe go through a few of them.
From Guilbert ?
I think you may be thinking of the Greek legend of Tantalus. Cursed by the gods to stand forever in a pool of water with fruit trees above. The water would recede when he tried to drink and the fruit would forever be just out of reach.
