Hi there,a friend's husband has just been diagnosed with terminal cancer,non operable,time left 6 to 12 months,he claims a government pension for both of them, he is retirement age she is 60 as it looks likely she will have to nurse him very soon will she be entitled to a careers allowance,they have savings (going fast) live on a boat with no permanent residential address as such. She will be needing all sorts of guidance in the hear future and I would be grateful for any advice I can pass on to her.

See if there is a local Carers Centre in their area. ~They will have all sorts of help and advice. A Carers Centre is NOT a government or council thing but a separate charity.

Carer's Allowance is only available when the person being cared for is themself in receipt of one or more designated benefits:

A friend of mine is in a similar position, they have found the Macmillan nurses are wonderful at providing information on the financial benefits available as well a being great carers.
