Andy, sadly exploited children CAN seem thrilled to be there, especially where they've had the promises of treats but not the abuse.
hc4361 - I am sure that with a little perception - mandatory for staff dealing with potential abuse situations like this, a few simple discreet questions can establish if all is OK.

I'm glad they questioned the situation. Horrible for them but it wouldn't be so horrible for a victim.
These people are not rained inquisitors. They are not trained by the cid exploitation department. They are hotel workers told with and hours worth of reading a few generic cases to be vigilant about exploited people and act accordingly.

Luckily this girl has a loving father to protect her and guid her through this 'traumatic' experience. Other girls may not be so lucky.

## goodness, that link takes you to a real perv's page today! ##

I think most answered posters read the story of the Question JNO, your eyes obviously were elsewhere!
I read the full story first and posted my response first, trt!

But obviously when I went to close the page down my eye was drawn to look for Heidi Klum's coconuts... only I couldn't see any.

It's good to see that the Staff were taking notice, but to be fair a quick word with the daughter would have sorted it without Police involvement.
And how were the staff supposed to do that Baldric? Can you imagine the response...

"do you mind if we have a word with your daughter in private sir?"
^ they did have an opportunity to do that as, according to the article, the father left the daughter in the hotel whilst he went out to park his car.
Obtuse response by untrained staff. Handling such situations should be part of position instructions.
All very sad, as several people have said, this is the world we live in.
We appear to have reached the point where Motel check-in staff need to have the perception of a Police Officer and the skills of a psycologist,
in addition to being diplomatic and firm - all for a wage at or near the minimum allowed by law.....not so long ago the many millions of folk in the rump of the labour force on this sort of pay had little or no stress at
work because they were classed as drones and trained and paid accordingly, indeed the term "hands" used to describe "workers" is still in regular use, even by some Politicians.
What used to be the most basic jobs are now becoming more and more stressful - where will it all end?
I think that it is good that hotel staff are trained to look out for situations where a child may be in danger and parents of children should be pleased that this sort of training is given. It could be saving a minor of becoming a victim of paedophilia. However, this member of staff acted appallingly. It should have been handled discreetly so as not to cause distress to either father or daughter. I would suggest that this member of staff needs further training immediately on how to deal with the public, a vital part of his job I would think. Until this has been done, this guy should be put to work in a "back office" somewhere, not dealing with members of the public.
When I was 13, I wouldn't have wanted to share a bed with my dad.
I don't blame the staff for checking. A photo of him holding her when a baby doesn't prove anything.
