This was on the BBC web news web site but thought it a good general discussion on 'British' or 'Christian' values.

Although it is said that the Cadbury Egg Hunt does have Easter in its main advertising the even is 'Egg hunt'.
Do you think it further erodes the consept of Britishness or its seemily 'Christian' values?
Personally I think it does show an erosion of both these values. Traditionally we have seen more and more Christian festivals and days of importance sidelined or downgraded. We have gone from Christmas celebrations, lights and such like referred to instead as 'winter' and is even referred to in supermarkets as seasonal produce.
Take away or dilute our Christian heritage and you start to erode what is has meant to be British.
Dewali is gaining prominence and Christianity is loosing it.
There is no doubt that we are and have always been a diverse nation with many different nationalities and religions bountifully accepted but Christianity and Britishness, aspects of nationhood almost, seem to be dirty words at the moment.

I don't necessarily disagree with you Murdo but it is a tradition we have had for a considerable time. And it is being eroded by the apologists as a dirty worded tradition.
It is not so much about other religions becoming more prominent but of Christianity being almost swept under the carpet for fear of offending. Almost as if no other religion should be subjected to the religion of the land.

Perhaps the Church of England should look to its pwn problems, like the fact that congregations are going down almost everywhere.
I have a close friend who is a semi-retired Church in Wales Vicar, and she still helps out with 2-3 services every week. Her average attendance on a Sunday morning is about 30, and on a mid-week service it can be as low as 6. And this is in a busy suburb of Cardiff, not somewhere in the boondocks.
So, does Bishop Sentamu really think that the church will be filled to overflowing, just by Cadbury putting yet another reference to Easter into its publicity ?

I'm sorry but ALL religions that believe in gods should be done away with. Islam, Christianity, et al are all bunkum! They're brainwashing people based on fairy tales two thousand years old.
"Christian" values, promoting the good in people, are not "Christian", but are moral values. The Christian religion is irrelevant. I am an atheist, but I believe in good and evil, but it is down to an individual's make-up, not whether they go to church or not.
I realise some people need a crutch to fall back on, so if you want to believe, so be it. I am not going to try and persuade you otherwise, but please don't try and promote your religious beliefs on others that don't believe in them either.
I enjoy the holidays that started through religion, but in this day and age, it is not Britishness that is being eroded - it is that less and less people are being taken in by religion, and more are thinking for themselves.

Enjoy the Easter fun with the Cadbury egg hunt.
Easter is mentioned but not specifically as and Easter egg hunt.
And as they pointed out people of all and no faith join in the activities. Which to my mind indicates they are airbrushing over Easter to make non Christians feel more inclusive. Just commercialism.

More rowlocks..... People from all walks of life enjoy a break at Easter and all sorts of people eat chocolate eggs. There is plenty of mention of the word Easter on the National Trust site, and also on the Cadbury one,
You would do well to read my post at 11:11 today. The Church of England would better spend its time wondering why people are no longer going to church on a regular basis, rather than whinge on about what is, after all, a commercial enterprise, as Mamy has already said.
The OP is a barely concealed dig at Muslims, yet again, who incident probably eat as much chocolate as Christians, and their money is just as valued and needed by the National Trust, as much as anybodies else.
