Cholesterol - Statins Necessary?

I was prescribed statins when my blood test was:
Total 6.5
Triglycerides 3.5
HDL 0.9

Three years later my results are:
Total 4.3
LdL 2.7
Trig 2
HDL 0.7

Can I safely stop taking the statins? The HDL levels are very disappointing because I do eat a lot of oily fish, beans, olive oil, nuts which is supposed to raise the HDL levels. I have eaten that sort of food all my life.

LOL....sorry, I am just smiling really........

Well, You didn't say what your LDL was 3 years ago and in my opinion the relationship between diet and cholesterol levels is complex and contentious in my opinion.
Now to your question and particular case, if you are not getting any noticeable side effects from you statins, I would continue taking them.

:) I thought you'd smile.

I don't know what my LDL was three years ago. Thankfully no side effects so I'll carry on with the statins.

Can I resume my pork scratching habit?
