Asked this elsewhere on another thread but CB seems to have more traffic now...
If someone gets sent down and they have pets at home (in this instance, 3 dogs) what happens to the animals?
My sons mate got 15 months today and he has 3 dogs left at home. My son is staying at his flat tonight to walk and feed the dogs but the council will be taking repossession of the flat and no provision is in place for the animals.
Thanks

I've googled and all the well known charities seem to do it, try contacting them. My brother has fostered several dogs on behalf of a local animal sanctuary so there are people who do it.

Thank you Prudie will look in to it more closely. My sons m8 got a 15 month sentence so should serve 7 1/2 months. If he qualifies for a tag then maybe he will serve 4 months, but he will still be homeless when released. Might still have his dogs tho.
Don't know how it will work out...
Nailit, first I would google the breed rescue for the dogs and tell them what you've told us. They may, with a bit of luck, be able to find fosterers for you who will be experienced in that particular breed.
I know nothing of how this works but you might, surely when people get sentenced they are assigned some kind of adviser who looks into this kind of thing? It must affect children, the mortgage all sorts?

Unfortunetly Prudie, from my OWN past experience NO. Things might of changed since then tho.
As mad as it sounds, Facebook can be a really good site for getting help in all kinds of situations. If you're not on FB yourself Nailit, ask a friend to appeal for foster homes for the dogs. Explain the situation......there are LOTS of animal lovers out there, and people are, in general, kindhearted. Good luck.
Nailit please consider my suggestion at 22.10. Most if not all breeds have a breed rescue.
The Cinnamon Trust helps the aged and ill with their pets. Don't know about these circumstances though. Be dreadful if he lost his dogs.
