Woke up amd all fingertips (and thumb) on left hand are numb - like pins and needles. Thought I'd maybe slept on my arm or something but it's now 5 hrs and they're still the same. Any ideas??

Do you have pain in the hand or not?
Any underlying medical condition?
Question Author
Nope no pain at all. Just feels really strange.
I presume no underlying medical conditions......you didn't answer.
Nothing significant comes to mind.......monitor the situation for a week or so.
Question Author
Sorry, underactive thyroid, asthma - nothing to do with hands at all
Under-active thyroid can cause your symptoms but i guess that you are on thyroxine. I would certainly get your thyroid function blood tests done.
Question Author
Yes am on thyroxine daily. Haven't had bloods tested for ages so will ask to be done - thankyou.
Hi Smowball, I seem to remember that you were in a car accident recently. The numbness you are experiencing could be owing to whiplash. Are you having physiotherapy for your injuries? It would be worth getting it checked out.
