What Do You Eat With A Pork Pie.

I would like to start eating Pork Pies,but what would you serve with it.I realise that you cannot heat it up(I don't think)but what would go nicely with it?

Pork pie warmed up in the microwave for 30 seconds, small tin of petits pois and mint sauce. Trust me, it's delicious!

Yes,the skin of the saveloy is red,and peels off easily when cooked.
I love the taste,but must admit that they are quite rich.
I've always known them as Bridge pies. Same thing I suppose.
Very likely similar, our Whist pies are usually beef - they were also at one time mutton.

I think Bridge pies are pork - but the idea of a small bite or two is the same.

My OH is Scottish,and persuaded me to eat a (Mutton) Scots Pie when we were up there years ago.
Sorry to say,but I found them revolting and greasy.
I imagine it's the same with anything, some will be better than others.


My Grandchildren adore my steak pies and the eldest posted on his blog they were the best in the World - that was quite a boost for me.


He has travelled widely so hopefully his appraisal was based on more than cupboard love.
We used to have picnic pies, which were about 2 bites - haven't seen them lately.

I make pork pies at Christmas. The hot water pastry is like a cross between Plasticene and wax. Early efforts were hilarious! Boiling pigs' trotters for the jelly is fun too...
We'll be onto Cow heel next ;-)

You can warm a pork pie up , myself ? Would not consider . A small side salad . myself , cheese, pickles and some crusty bread . A bottle of tasty beer .
