I've put this in CB because most the drinkers seem to come in here ;)

Old friend and I used to visit a pub in the late 1980s, probably to the west of Stamford. We both distinctly recall it had a glass covered well in the floor of the pub. Any ideas how we can work out where this was? Anyone local know it?

Dont think so, Gness, that was suggested as one of the possibilities (I think it might have been Barnwell Mill), but we probably never went that far. We may have a lead......... (only cos we both wanted to visit it again and remember old times).
The Chequered Skipper?
^^^ I can't find any web references to the former Oundle Mill Hotel having a well.

(Please don't get Gness started on a list of all the pubs she knows. AB's servers can't handle that much data!)

pmsl Chris.

Dont think so, Smow, I know the CS quite well and I dont recall it having a well.
Hmmmm.......it was a two room hotel with a glass floor through which flowing water could be viewed......which BM could have mistaken for a well......in her cups......
Why would you want to watch flowing water as you drank your pint of G.....

Anyway......I'll continue to think......there's the one at Upper or Lower Benefield.......can't recall the name.....but I do recall......no.....enough said...... ;-)
