Yeah but NoM you neither look like a Muslim, dress like a Muslim or have a Muslim name.

The thing that puts me off going is the stories I've been told by people who have traveled around it.
Zacsmaster at 00:37 Sun (and Anneasquith adding her petty two-pennyworth as usual). I haven’t been to the US since Trump became president, so there’s no question of ‘defending’ him. The people mentioned in the links are prima donnas – they all think they’re ‘someone’ and should therefore be excused rigorous checks but unfortunately for them they aren’t as instantly recognisable as they like to think.

Mamyalynne, if the authorities want to quiz me on arrival, that’s fine. In the current climate I have no problem with any nation imposing strict security checks. I’m happy to help. It’s a pity our border control isn’t as thorough.
Ummmm...Neither does the author in Pasta's link. Again, I think it's stuff being blown out of proportion.

Don't get me wrong, Trump is grotesque and makes me cringe, but he's definitely "putting America first."
I was reading this post yesterday and I thought it will dramatically cut the number of tourists visiting the USA. Tourism is an important and profitable industry, a huge number of jobs/businesses depend on it. I wonder how the heads of such businesses feel about this?
There are less people visiting the US right now because the pound is weak against the dollar. However that's bound to be twisted by left wing media.
They`ve always been vile so no change there. In fact, in recent years they have been a bit more cheerful because Obama told them to be more welcoming but they will probably return to type now. Next time you go to the US, have a look at their "Pledge" notices at Immigration. "We pledge to respect" etc. Always makes me laugh because they break just about every one of them. Everywhere else in the world has border control that treats people with dignity (apart from Toronto - they are vile too)
I agree with 237SJ......the number of times that I have queued at Miami arrivals and being treated brusquely, by some fat butch black immigration woman...."keep behind that red line"......
So what is new?
Oh Christ - it's more than your life's worth to step over the line Sqad

They should add "But if you don't speak English we will just shout at you"
This quote from the link about the former PM of Norway means the border officials never have to explain their actions
'A spokesperson for US Customs and Border Protection said it was prohibited by law from discussing specifics of any individual’s admissibility review.'
Sounds a bit like The AnswerBank. ;o)
The stupidity of some Americans is almost unbelievable. I am presuming that this chap has an American passport, so I am not sure why he was stopped and questions at all ?

Will Trump's friends here on AB still insist that he doesn't have an anti-Muslim agenda ?
NoMercy....how is Trump "putting America first" by submitting the American son of one of their greatest sporting heroes to an undignified incident at the Airport ?

Can we expect them to do the same to Carl Lewis, the Williams sisters, et al ?
Holding an American passport is no guarantee, just as holding a British passport is no guarantee. We know that from experience.
Mamyalynne

/// Maybe because next time you consider travelling to see family or holiday you may be the one being quizzed for two hours. ///

America is not on it's own, it is hard gaining access to many countries.

Perhaps we should be more careful than we are, read my latest thread.
If Ali's son had an American Passport, why was he being questioned in the first place ?

And long did it take the border guards to realise their mistake ?

I bet you wouldn't be so supporting towards Catholic Priests, if they were periodically vetted just in case they may be paedophiles?
Talk about thread diversion. Sheesh.
" out of left field " as the Americans would say !!!!!!!!!!
