isn't it time that betting companies stopped offering silly bets? it's wide open to abuse
If he hadn't eaten a pie the bookie would keep bet money so the bookie gains. no problem
If he does eat a pie then bookie looses money. Problem
Depends what you mean by 'silly bets'. Would a bookie have given odds of Donald Trump at the outset or Jeremy Corbyn to win the Labour Leadership contest?

Bookies can offer odds no matter how bizarre the request.

The real problem occurs when a sports competitor breaks the betting rules to which he or she is bound.
"Silly bet" as in because he knows there is odds for him eating a pie so if he deliberately doesn't eat a pie the bookie wins and it's not a problem. If he deliberately eats a pie the bookie loses and it becomes a problem
Sutton United's historic FA Cup run will be remembered mostly for a fat man eating a pie. The cup should raise the profile of non league clubs in a positive way. Lets not be fooled - he knew there was a bet and he knew people stood to make money from the stunt!
i keep getting this image of the no 1 goalie being injured and the game being held up while the reserve finished his pie
They had used all 3 subs and therefore the sub keeper knew he wasn't getting on the field - cue the pie!!
......the subs had all been used!
At 23 stone and still guzzling pies how would he manage to stand between the posts ? At 45 years of age he should have grown up (as opposed to outwards) and know better than eating between meals. He deserves the sack (and probably an early grave) for his stupidity
He only eat the pie cause there were no subs left lol

If he had eaten a ham sandwich instead, the bookie would of kept the bets (won) and nobody would of cared (apart from the people that had bet on him eating a pie)
He makes Blatter look like a Saint. :-)
Is he a good goalie?

It's possibly harder to score past someone that big.
How can that even come close to anything Blatter has done trt?Hopefully the bookies took a caning from all concerned, its no less than they deserve.
This has nothing to do with Blatter whatsoever.

Shaw went on a morning tv show and stated 'We're not allowed to bet, but a few of the lads laid on'

Banged to rights!!
Yes but were "the lads" his team mates or just a few fellow pie eaters? Still think a caning if there was one is no less than the whinging bookies deserve.

FGS Grumpy, I put a smiley at the end! :-(
The thought of this fat man taking the credit away from Sutton UFC's performance is, in short, disgraceful.....He knew what he was doing and shame that is what the game will be remembered for.....I used to live in Mitcham, and as such, used to go to local games, such as Tooting and Mitcham at Sandy lane.....Carshalton Athletic at Beddington Park and Sutton Utd at Gander Green Lane, so really disappointed their moment in the spotlight is tainted by a piggin' fat greedy opportunist.
Sorry trt didn't pick up that was what you intended.
I'm outraged! Possibly even incensed!
Bringing the good name of association football into disrepute after centuries of spotlessness.
