Yes, and they would see it as 'taking a stance ...' because conflict and arrogance are their default positions.
Some things deserve to be met with conflict - and the subjugation of of women by Islam is one of them.

Yes but it is strange that some UK women's groups will take to the streets in protest over the least matter, but they seem reluctant to address Muslim men's attitude towards their women in our country.

And don't even mention FGM.
AOG - //And don't even mention FGM. //

Since that is not relevant to this thread - thanks, we won't.

Absolutely - but as I have opined previously, the phrase 'pick your battles' is important here.

There is no point in Ms. Le Penn making a gesture over one thing, if its recipients see it as something else entirely - it somewhat defeats the object, and lowers the potential tolerance levels of the recipients in the case of future gestures being made in their direction.

Hey! steady on allen, wealth is not relevant to this thread, the AnswerBank's self appointed chief arbitrator has ordered.

You do seem uncharacertistically vague these days - if the 'Self Appointed Chief Arbiter' doesn't know whom you think he or she is, then he or she can't answer you.

But as far as I am concerned, I can't see that anyone has said that wealth is an issue at all - are you sure you are on the right thread?
Scan anyone explain to me why seeing a woman's hair is so obscene?

I rest my case. :0)
This touches on the origins in a few of the major religions relating to head coverings.

Some stunning photos too.
Can I please point out once again whilst you good citizens of GT Britain are hunting down muslims who wish to cover their hair with headscarves, what are you doing about Orthodox Jews who also have the same rulings with regards to modesty and hair covering - It appears you are happy to ignore that - I wonder why!!
Linda - //Scan anyone explain to me why seeing a woman's hair is so obscene? //

I don't think it is seen as 'obscene' - a lot of Muslim culture revolves around appropriate modesty. In a lot of Muslim homes, the women's hair and heads are seen only by their husbands, fathers, brothers, sons, and it is seen as immodest for a man outside the family to see them.

I don't claim to understand it - and before anyone reaches for a keyboard, I am not defending it, I am simply explaining it as I understand it.

Sigh - we're off.
From; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_headcovering

'In Continental Europe and North America at the start of the 20th century, women in most mainstream Christian denominations wore head coverings during church services. These included many Anglican, Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian and Roman Catholic Churches. At worship, in parts of the Western World, many women started to wear bonnets in lieu of headcoverings, and later, hats became predominant. However, eventually, in North America, this practice started to decline, with some exceptions, such as among conservative Mennonites and Amish, and Traditionalist Catholics. In nations in regions such as the Indian subcontinent, nearly all women wear head coverings during church services. Female members of Jehovah's Witnesses may only lead prayer and teaching when no baptized male is available to, and must do so wearing a head covering male Witnesses are to remove any headcovering when representing even a small group in public prayer. Female members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) are required to veil their faces during a part of the temple worship ceremonies.'
Both Roman Catholic and Anglican nuns wear a head cover.'
I wonder if anyone who would tear the head covering off a Muslim woman in the street would do the same to a nun?

Somehow I doubt it.
You like to keep bringing up my immigration status AoG just what is it you think you know?
Ms Le-Pen - don't do it !!
Islay at 15:36, There are only about 260,000 Jews in the UK, most of whom are not the strictly orthodox people you are describing. They account for only about 10% of the whole and unless you go to somewhere like Stamford Hill you’d be lucky to spot one. They are fiercely independent and self-supporting and I have never known them to cause trouble in any way, or to demand the respect for their religion that Muslims (who number into the millions here) demand, or to demand that rules be changed to suit them, or to demand special privileges. The women are not subjugated but are genuinely respected, they don’t wear their wigs and scarves as a visible symbol of their religion or as a uniform as many Muslims do – and the Jews don’t want us as converts either, Although when he founded Islam Mohammed based his brain-wave upon Judaism with a bit of Christianity thrown in for good measure, the reality is that those religions bear very little resemblance to Islam. I trust that answers your question.

hereIam, Don’t panic! She’s cancelled the meeting.
