Has anyone here had radiotherapy following chemo and hysterectomy please? I was fine with chemo, hardly any side effects, but I have to have radiotherapy 5 days a week for 5 weeks :(

Thanks in advance

I have had a radical hysterectomy followed by chemo and then radiotherapy. Chemo was not as bad as I anticipated but still not a walk in the park. Radiotherapy is totally painless and very quick. The only snag being that, in my own case, I had to travel in daily to central London to the hospital using Patient Transport (because of mobility problems) and this...

Prayers are for everyone bath's, good luck today .
// none of us can advise.//
o yes we can ....

you are oop North arent you ?

are you at the Christie ? front door back thro dept 42 and out the back - easy one
you get to ring the dinger after treatment 21

First one is a bit of a run around then it really should be in and out - and they aim at the spot ....

for myself they had to nail my head to the floor - like the girl in the advert for the CRC - but without the eye holes.
40 gy ( which is why it is fractionated ) to the orbit

1999 - same place for 40 gy to my pelvis for ca colon

in zip zip zip out - 5 mins

first time round - felt tired for about a year ( !)
second time ( last year - orbit ) I did evening classes
oh and day 17 -got called for jury duty.

its OK - you get to know all the people before and after you - as people tend to choose the same time each day
Peter, have you completed you're treatments ?
year ago
big big shock last week - blood count down to 0.2
as chance finding - in erm Dept 42....
which is well within the death zone
but bounced back by Friday to 1.7

everyone breathed a sigh of relief
good excuse for a poss up tho !

sozza Baths - the thread is about your RT
Oh just remembered
fatigue is dependent on dose ( of course )
and size of field ( target) so the larger the field the more fatigue -
which is why I didnt feel tired with 40 gy behind the eyeball and in front of the bone
but I DID with pelvic RT
Good news peter, I'm sure baths won't mind us having a chat .

No Anne, of course I don't mind! Well, my experience was so weird today,....if anyone says I'm full of sh**, they're not wrong :) Couldn't do treatment cos scan was showing I was too full of gas and poo!! Went to have something to eat, hoping that would set something off, but nope. 3 attempts they made, and finally, on 4th attempt, scan showed things had moved in my tum, and the area to be treated wasn't obstructed, so after being there for 12.15 apptmnt, finally got treated at 5.30!

Yes Peter, it is at The Christie. Such lovely friendly staff.
Blimey, yours is a bummer of an experience :( In 2 different parts of body God love ya. Hope you continue to be stable,
Just had to take a photo of the sign for the Superficial Unit ;) Nobody else thought it was funny, but we were giggling like schoolgirls!
Sgt Troy's taking me tomorrow, he won't have the patience Karen had, so will make sure of taking syrup of figs tonight :)

Oh bless you Baths, yes you do spend so much time there it starts to feel like a second home, good job they are so wonderful with you.

Had a couple of visits (Chemo) that ran to over 10 hours, arduous for the patient.

Best wishes for smoother appointments from now.

Love to everyone else toox

Well, am back from 2nd treatment at Christie's. I thought it would be like yesterday, cos despite syrup of figs last night, and a glycerin suppository this morning, nothing has happened :/ I'm a medical mystery, I am!
