PS. i have steady job which takes home £700 per week. but work is in eire , can provide payslips etc etc
Have you sorted out your tax issues?
Why waste time asking on here when you could be phoning round mortgage brokers and asking someone who really knows?
Here ask these people they deal with nothing but poor credit mortgages
https://www.justmortgagebrokers.co.uk/bad-credit/
Pros:
You have a deposit larger than 50%
You have a good income

Cons:
Bad credit rating
Only been in that job for a short time
Paying maintenance to your ex-wife and family

Use Equifax to get your credit rating then try:

https://www.uswitch.com/mortgages/guides/bad-credit-mortgages/
Or join Experian, they will give you a credit score and show you which lenders might lend to you. It's free.

same can be said for you , why are you wasting your time reading these threads if you have nothing to contribute ?

thankyou HC4 & UMMM, ok and eddies too i suppose
I do think you'll find it pretty hard. My OH was refused a credit card for one single default in his whole life....and it wasn't really a default, it was a dispute (all sorted now)

I'm not sure how much lenders can see about your credit report but if they can see you owe HMRC it might be a big fat no, or you'll be paying way over the odds.

When you say a steady job, how long have you been in this steady job?

i owe the tax man £200 for god sake !! lol

failed to return 2 self assesments
Pay the tax man ASAP, no reason to delay and the fewer debts you have when you apply the better
If that is the assessment you have received from the tax man then you are very lucky as I did some calculations and they come out a lot more than that with penalties!
