You know my post a week or so ago about NOT making a house insurance claim but the guy on the phone saying he had to declare it? Well I've just had my renewal through and yes it does say I've NOT made a claim for £350, and my policy has gone UP by £65.92!! Mental!

So before I spend ages scouring the internet for the best offers can you give me any good deals that you know of/good companies? Thanks x

Inflation makes everything go up.

And of course, what with Brexit, and them having to import the insurance from abroad so the £ will make it dearer.

Try the comparison sites for a better deal.
Go online to the same company you are with, enter all the details on your renewal and see what figure it comes up with. Have done this before with house insurance, car insurance and breakdown insurance. All three quotes came back a lot lower that my renewal quotes. I then phoned the companies and argued with them. All three gave me the lower figure.
It's a fair comment. I was still renewing the insurance I had when I had a mortgage and the mortgage lender chose who insured the place. When I said I wasn't prepared to have it auto renew this year they suddenly found a different plan which had sufficient cover without being over the top, and I'm paying a lot less. There were less costly plans out there as I discovered on the comparison sites, but not sufficiently so to bother changing my provider... this time.
No point in giving names of companies they each assess all quotes individually, what is cheap for me may well not be cheap for you.
Just try one or two of the comparison web sites so you don't have to keep entering your details.

Ok guys, I'll have a look and see what I can find. I hate doing this lol
The Insurance Premium Tax increased from 9.5% to 10% in October, so that will contribute to the increase.

Having said that, check the comparison sites and you might find your current insurer offers a lower price on line. Then phone your insurer, tell them you are leaving because you have a lower quote. When they ask who from, you can tell them!!
Which? Recommended Providers for home insurance (good cover at a fair price) include Nationwide BS, John Lewis Insurance and NFU mutual...
...many people make the mistake of thinking that the cheapest quote makes it the best value...then find that there are reasons why it was so cheap in the first place. I prefer to pay a little more up front and get fair/decent treatment...

Yes Nationwide is giving a good price so far. And Legal &a General and Churchill to name a few
We are with Direct Line and have just had to make a claim. We received excellent and very prompt service ,may be worth you looking at them
I would echo exactly what bakers dozen said, my car insurance renewal quote was £30 more than the same company offered me online. I phoned them and they gave me the lower online price. They rely on people not being bothered enough to look elsewhere just for the ease of it when they send renewal quotes.
I'm with Tesco insurance who sent me a quote for this year that was £11 dearer than last year.Rang them up and the lady I spoke to said that I qualified for a loyalty bonus and gave me a new quote which was actually £6 a month less than I paid last year.
Read my post to you & a previous one about 18 months ago.

Brilliant service from the Post Office, but think they pass it on to another company.
