This afternoon I was driving and the winter sun was blinding in front of me - I could barely see even though I had sunglasses on - it was about 3.30pm and it was just so low it was eye level. Anyway I was driving really along and then suddenly this lorry smashed into the back of me. It was so loud I honestly thought a bomb had gone off. I was in shock and dazed, but luckily Mr Smow was in passenger seat. Turns out lorry driver was also completely blinded by the sun and just smashed into me.Have whiplash, hurt left leg and cars a mess but could have been much worse. Was really frightening though.

You're having a laugh!! did they not notice there'd been an accident, you could have been crushed (thankfully you were not)
They may well have been going to an important incident. Not that a car crash isn't important, but.....in the scheme of things.....
I suppose so ZM - I was in our local Garda Barracks last wednesday, there were a good few Gardaí about but no one seemed to be doing any work even though the barracks was packed, I just wondered, is it the same in England then

Rang insurance and they were shut. Only option was for emergency i.e. Stranded somewhere so will have to call when they re open.
Try again tomorrow, Smow. Quite a few are open on Sundays.
Which insurance co are you with. Not many who don't have a reporting facility 24/7.

Ah thanks Caran x
Glad you're both not badly hurt Smow. A few years ago,we were sitting in traffic at a junction when a car came against the lights and smashed into a car which then smashed into another car just ahead of us. Apart from the shock of how quickly everything happened, like you said,it was how loud the bangs were! Genuinely took your breath away by their almost viciousness.
Beware that you may have a 24 hour delay before the seat belt brushing on chest appears. When we were rear ended several years ago, it was not until next day that my chest hurt.
Our accident was very bad.
We were rear ended by a car behind that was shunted into us by a BMW hitting it at speed. The woman in car behind was very seriously injured.
Lets put it this way, the car gear stick punched the inside of car roof where it was forced up. Our car was only 3 months old and written off (company car), woman behinds car was approx 20 years old and thus the bad damage. BMW was written off also. BMW driver admitted his car was new and he was trying to tune radio at time , looked up and crunch.
I've been in a bad accident years ago, so know just how shocking it can be. Rest and relaxation for you tomorrow, if possible
Sorry to hear that Smow.

Obviously you need to let your insurance know but by the sound of it the lorry driver was at fault so their insurance will be the ones paying out.

Just glad you are ok. X

watch out for the whiplash. I know it attracts disbelief because people stage crashes in order to fake it; but if you really get it, it can be unpleasant. You might want to ask your GP to check you out.
I was in a minor accident that hurt bad enough.

Lorry driver was mortified! Couldn't have been more helpful. Mr Smow says I was really dazed afterwards and not with it and tbh should have probably got checked out but I just wanted to get home
you'll feel it more in a day or two as someone's said. A driver ran into me once - not my car, me - he must have been doing about 2mph (and he was extremely apologetic too!), but my knees have never really recovered though it was 30 years ago. So do have yourself looked at.
Honestly.....the things some woman will do to pull a lorry driver!..... ;-)

Seriously, Smow.....so glad you're okay.....scares the life out of you and can take a day or two for the reaction to come out.....so take care now....Gx
In December 1998 I drove home at lunchtime to get a Xmas outfit on for our Xmas dinner that night. An articulated lorry driver was so high up in his pad and so tired - we were all waiting coming up to a roundabout - he didn't see me at his right. He crashed into me - he ushered my car forth - I crashed into the car in front and he hit the car in front of him.

Police were called - I walked away unscathed so I thought - but I didn't have anything broken - just jiddering.

Hope you're ok Smowball.
