Wildwood.....I can assure you that if had been anywhere near this creature, I certainly wouldn't have been taking a photo !

His tail seem to take out 10 minutes to appear !....shudder !

aelmpvw....I have crossed the States a few times. most on Route 66. I have seen bears, coyotes, and any number of snakes, but I have never been to Florida....now you know why !

My cousin lives in Florida. His house is in a development in the woods with a lake in the middle. I used to walk his little dog around the lake (more of a large pond really) and there was an aligator who lived in the lake. All I could see of him was his little eyes poking up above the water. He used to look at us as we walked around but he never bothered us and we never bothered him. After a couple of residents lost their pets, the authorities decided to remove the alligator from the lake. When they took him out of it, he was about 12 feet long. I think that was a surprise to many people
