Was looking into getting a car satnav with Euro maps as doing some driving in France this year.

Someone at work advised me to just get the Tomtom Go app with Euro maps as its just as good but cheaper
than a new satnav

I'm not up on phones (will be wifes phone we use for it) She has a Galaxy S7 so we'll just get the cradle that
fits on the windscreen.

Wife said 'why dont we just use google maps as satnav?' Would this work? Need one thats not going to use data but just
use the gps function.

So have 3 options; dedicated car satnav for £100. Tomtom Go for about £25 or Google maps which is free?

I think Googlemaps uses data so won't be free either, go for Tomtom go then you have it for driving around UK too.
I doubt whether google maps will keep up with you moving at motoring speed Booldawg or provide detailed driving data. If your current Tomtom is up to date and in good nick, as in having the free software upgrades installed, I would go with Tomto Go.
You have another option - the Co-Pilot app on your smartphone. I've been using it for years on an old tablet and find it much better than my the TomTom I used before that.

It doesn't use data - my tablet is wifi only and works perfectly well.
