Mac Filtering

We've had our Now Box for ages now and never had a problem. Today, I tried to use it and it wouldn't connect. It suggested going to Mac filtering on our router and allowing its Mac address.
I duly did this, but that meant that my laptop wouldn't connect, so I've had to go through all the household devices in turn to allow them. That's been fine (although connection with the Now Box!), until I try to allow the Epson printer. I click on the device, click on 'allow' and the router goes offline. This has happened 9 or 10 times now, so it's obviously no coincidence.
So, 1) how to I get the printer to work again? 2) should I go back to the old system without the Mac filtering? If so, 3) How? 4) How on earth do I get the Now box connected?
This has taken me a couple of hours so far, so I'm calling it a night, but if anyone has any bright ideas, I'd be grateful!

The simple answer is to disable mac filtering completely on the router.

Thanks, Chair. That's sorted out the problem - but still not connecting the Now box. I'll start a new thread for that.
