What defines daily contacts as daily ?
The time they are in your eye
The number of insertions
General deterioration

The reason I ask, is that I like my contacts ( monthly disposable )
but I can't drive in them - they are only good for near and intermediate
So I would have to put them in at work and then take them out again before
I drive home then pop them back in for the evening.

Does anyone do this ? and if so does work OK ?

From your description, I assume you are long sighted and that you use your contact lenses to avoid using spectacles for close-up vision in your work and home environment (i.e. the bulk of the day). That being the case, any lenses you wear would be the same regardless of the length of time you wear them (daily only or a month at a time). Have you discussed with your optician whether you can wear glasses to correct your distant vision (e.g. while driving) while still wearing your contact lenses instead of taking them out, if that would appeal to you ?
