Is this actually a certain kind of Infection or a description of an Infection that turns nasty. I am on immunosuppressant drugs for a chronic condition and have been exposed to infection a few days ago through visiting someone. I developed a bit of a cough with a mild rise in temperature 1c but went to the doctors yesterday as a precaution. He immediately put me on Amoxicillin and took bloods. he was very concerned that I am fully aware that if i am exposed to any potential infection I see him immediately to avoid a 'Catastrophic Infection' as my 'neuts' are borderline. I know what that means but don't know exactly what Catastrophic Infection means. Can anyone explain this please?

It is not a medical term that I am aware of, but "might" indicate a life threatening infection.
Sorry neuts.
Zac...he knows what "neuts" mean it is "catastrophic" that is fooling him.

Zacs, thank you yes I know about neuts I have to have mine checked every month because of the drugs I'm on . Mine normally hover around 1.1 - 2.2 which is borderline, under 1 means hospital, which touch wood, has never happened yet.

It means it's just a tad more serious than an infection
Oh ***.

I was at a ball just before Christmas Sqad with a few of the team from LGI who do the hand transplants. Amazingly unassuming people. Genii.

Sorry rocky.
Zac......LOL....what would you expect?
Some surgeons can be complete egotists.

LOl^^ right.
rocky...thanks.....difficult to be sure these days ;-)
catastrophic infection eans an infection that will kill you
“can” kill you bedknobs, not “will” big difference
i disagree - there would be no other reason to say "catstrophic" unless death was the outcome. An infection you recover from is not catastrophic
An infection that leaves someone brain damaged, blind, deaf or missing limbs is pretty catastrophic, Bednobs.
