A few days ago travelling in car I had the most intense, burning pain on left side of teeth, mainly back bottom ones. I screamed out as its hell! Frightened my husband a bit... I know what it is. Trigeminal Neuralgia. I thought I'd left that behind 10 years or so ago. It's been twinging on and off since and have had cold, tingling sensation on left side of face. Sqad, if you're about, I wondered can a you get a cold/ chill on facial nerves? If so will it pass soon
So scary. Tia.

I like your diagnosis....it certainly sounds like Trigeminal Neuralgia from your description and also your past history of suffering from this disorder.
You mention that you were travelling in a car.....I wondered if you had the window open for a short period of time, as cold air can certainly bring on attacks. There is no evidence that infections in the nose, sinuses or in the head region can bring on an attack of trigeminal neuralgia but recurrence is well documented as are many trigger points...washing, talking etc etc.

It should pass, but attacks have been known to last weeks or months.
Monitor the situation.

Thank you Sqad. I guess I'm looking for reassurance as the pain is terrible, and I don't want to suffer like I did in the past. I was on Gabapentin for 3-4 years which definitely helped. The only down side it affected my short term memory and I used to trip over my words! Anyway, hope it doesn't come to that, and it passes quickly. I have been extremely stressed last week or two, so maybe that's a cause?? Thanks once again for your prompt reply..
