The bloody Yorkshire Terrier next door still yaps all day ( and night if they go out) They leave for work early so we up to it and come home to it. We had a talk to them yet again yesterday, I don't think she likes me very much now, but they just throw up their hands and say no one else complains. I wonder, do you think of they got it some company, a canary or a hamster it would stop ?

Nope.
hello
you can an buy an anti dog barking gadget
in a pet shop maybe amazon ebay
they do not damage animals in anyway
hope that helps
Some dogs just arent but out for being left alone all day.
No. We have told you the solution which is to keep a diary, get recordings and complain to the council. Poor dog.
Why have a dog if you are out all day? It isn't fair to the dog (or you!).
You could take some of the advice you were offered 10 days ago Sam. They are obviously not going to do anything unless you get the authorities involved.

Selfish people and poor dog. They do need reporting and the dog needs a better home.

I know Lady and Woofie. I just felt like moaning again. The authorities wouldn't take much notice here, not that they are cruel to animals, I have never seen that in the 40 years we have lived here. But I can't see them coming and doing anything about a yapping dog.
Where is 'here' ? The authorities have a duty to act if you report it surely ?

Spain hereIam
I feel your pain! We had a neighbour with 3 wee yappy dogs. We were lucky in that we complained to their landlord (who happens to be my FIL), and they were eventually evicted due to unsociable behaviour.

I don't think company will help this poor dog. Could you suggest the owners get a dog walker to come each day and exercise the dog? It sounds like the poor animal is bored.
Ah, I didn't realise you were in Spain Sam. No help for you or the poor dog then ...
For fear of being lynched, I would like to give you the benefit of my experience, so be nice people.
I had a dog that barked, he was rarely left alone, I'm talking 6 days a year, that was probably the problem, he didn't like being left alone because he wasn't use to it, not because he wasn't exercised or happy or loved.
There are a number of gadgets you can get, sprays, collars and educational games that you put treats in. I tried them all and they didn't work, I was verbally abused and told I wasn't an animal lover. It was a stressful situation and people think you just don't care or are not trying to do anything about it.
In the end if I had to leave him, I would either get someone to come and sit with him or take him with me or if that wasn't possible I would put him in a good kennel for the day where he would get walks twice a day.
The last thing I wanted to do was disturb anyone and you shouldn't have to put up with it from someone else's dog but if they are decent people then you should be able to talk to them.
My advice is if you don't feel able to approach them, write a polite note and put it through their door and ask if you can talk about it, tell them how it is affecting your life, don't fall out with people you have to live next to, doesn't make for a happy life.
Btw I had a Yorkie who lived until 16 years old.
