Do you think a lot of people have forgotten the real meaning of Christmas now? Theres a lot of chat about presents, but when did you last see a Nativity scene in anyones front window? Im not religious particularly but Ive noticed religious Christmas cards in the shops seem to be few and far between now too.

Despite reports of a decline in Christianity, evangelical and charismatic churches are seeing an increase in attendance and from reading the posts over the years on here I get the impression that some of the posters are members of those churches. Whilst not actively observing Christian practice on a daily basis, the emotional aspects of its doctrine remain entrenched in the western psyche, and therefore, despite only ever entering a church for family events such as baptisms, weddings, and funerals, many do consider themselves to be ‘Christian’. I think people, in general, are well aware of the fundamental purpose of Christmas and in their own way, embrace it.
I think Christmas is personal to everyone. If you want to keep it religious you can or if like me its all about presents, eating, drinking and being with the ones you love then so be it.
Islay....yes, you are right....live and let live is my motto as well.
Jo...you appear to lost for words !
Don't know what happened there. I meant to give two thumbs up signs to Islay and Mikey. I don't think this site 'does' emojis. Thankfully, actually. I am not fluent in emoji. :)
Neither am I Jo !
The real Meaning of Christmas has gone Georgie, In my way of thinking, it seems to be all "What I can get"
'What I can get'

From who? I don't get that impression at all from my friends and family.
Nor me, Ummmm.
as 3T would say:
Brexit ! Bah humbug ! anyone who doesnt like Christmas is quite welcome to move to Syria or somewhere

( yeah yeah OK they have christians in Syria but not many now ! )

OK the comment is a little light headed but still consistent with the above.
No one has mentioned the little Baby Jesus, the manger and Nativity Plays
sorry readers missed the posh bits just above me ^^^^
Christmas has never been a religious festival as far as I'm concerned !
