Why should anyone think they have the ability or wherewithal to scrutinise any Bretix plan?

Here's a plan that is simple enough for them to get their heads round.

Opinions about Labour are many and varied, but as Her Majesty's Opposition, they are involved, whether we think them fit or not.
Absolutely no need to involve Labour at all when the Tories are doing such a first class job on all fronts.
Nary a faltering step or word out of place. Harmonious withdrawal.
Cassa....you seem not to understand the role of Her Majesties Opposition in British politics.

Labour have already said that they don't intend to vote against Brexit, but its their job to hold the Tories to account and make sure that we get the best deal we can.

They can't even organise themselves, so do they have anyone capable of reading and understanding a "pretty detailed" negotiating plan?
Is douglas9401 serious?
Yeah, Mikey....
Douglas - government needs opposition like prosecuters need defenders, it's all about balance and not being able to ride a coach and four over everything without anyone checking that it's actually right and proper.
Erm I thought the judiciary did that ;)

Point is Labour are a waste iof space and instead of holding the Tories to account they are holding the country from progress, if people can't see that they need to open their eyes
"pretty detailed" negotiating plan

mikey ... please explain exactly what that even means. I will be honest and say if I was asked to write a "pretty detailed" negotiating plan I would be scratching my head.

Ninefingers - //Point is Labour are a waste iof space and instead of holding the Tories to account they are holding the country from progress, if people can't see that they need to open their eyes //

No - that's your opinion of the way Labour are (not) doing their job - it does not negate the need for the job to be done.
Disagree, since the start of ConDemNation Labour have been inept in opposition that's agree by a majority I suspect, if we are to have opposition we should at least ensure its fit for purpose

In my humble opinion it seems like there are an awful lot of people who voted leave so that Britian could pass its own laws, etc. without actually understanding the process by which these laws will be passed...

quite right, douglas, what could possibly go wrong from here?
Nothing if left alone to do it.

But with foreigners and sour grape chomping remoaners attempting to derail at every opportunity then there will no doubt be issues.

I understand the role of the opposition OK. I just don't think Labour as opposition or otherwise has an ability worth diddly squat.

They ran the country to the ground and would do it again if they had their way so being able to make even halfway useful additions to any plan would kill off the UK quicker that a nuclear bomb.

Dumb and dumber come to mind.
Is there an international symbol for irony/sarcasm or should I just put LOL at the end?
Mikey 11:14: Labour have already said that they don't intend to vote against Brexit, but its their job to hold the Tories to account and make sure that we get the best deal we can.

Telegraph tonight: However, 89 backbenchers including just one Tory and 23 Labour MPs opposed her plan in a show of defiance against the EU referendum result.
It's never really been answered so I'll ask again (before I retire for the night):

When did "Leaving the EU" and "Negotiating a relationship between what remains of the EU and the UK" become conjoined? Joining them up suggests that the first can only happen if the second is satisfactory. Whereas, of course, we could leave with no deal in place whatsoever. The UK could still fulfill its Lisbon obligations by negotiating for two years (though yesterday this seemed to have been chopped back, unilaterally to 18 months) but decide at the end of that period that no acceptable deal was possible. We simply then revert to being a "normal" (i.e. non-EU) country. Normal countries have not had to negotiate a relationship with the EU. Why should we?
