tilly...it could be many things, but nothing that would be remotely described as "life threatening"

Just a little more information and i will do my best to give you an informed answer to your question.

How old are you?
Are you on any medication?
What is your occupation?
Have you ever had a head or neck injury?

Thanks.

Hi Squad thanks for your reply.

I think it is perhaps posture. I am 50 no head injuries, I have an office job. neck as I said very creaky. TIA
tilly it does sound as though you have a degree of cervical spondylosis... wear and tear, probably postural in origin.

As the pain only lasts a couple of minutes then it seems pointless taking pain killers.
Just monitor the situation over the next few months and if it recurs more frequently, then see your GP who will probably arrange an MRI scan.
have you tried an osteopath or chiropractor? (The former are gentler.) They can often sort out postural problems
Hi Tilly. I agree with Jno-make an appointment with a chiropractor (if you're in UK you can look at the British Chiropractic Association website for info and for a local clinic). Good luck- I suffer with neck probs sometimes and it can get very painful so I symapthise. xx

Thank you all Squad I had an MRI when I was having the daily headaches last year, so would that have ruled out cervical spondylitis? Yes I will wait and see if I have any other attacks, but hope not it was very scary and just as well I was at home dont know what I would do if I had been at work! x
tilly...yes it would and it would rule out any neck problems,so we will just have to wait and see.
