Dave, only if they put their feet on the tables.
What did vegans do when there were no cars only horse drawn transport and only whale oil for lighting? Hardly possible to avoid use of animals then! Or is vegetarianism / veganism a new phenomena ?
I presume none of them own pets and stroke them.
I expect they are all wearing leather shoes etc...
Yes, Stearic acid is the main one. But it is a 'Mould release agent' it is put on the moulds that form the plastic so that they do not stick after moulding. But it is not in the formulation of the plastic itself. There may be traces left on the surface of the plastic though.
Also used for the same reason, on moulds for rubber items, both natural latex and and Hydrocarbon, so traces on everything from Car tyres and rubber gloves to condoms!
Handling stuff is not the same as consuming it. I think Eddie is right, a gimmick for free publicity.
Yes, as I pointed out at 21.34. They had better not sell or stock any items that have been transported in vehicles with rubber tyres. Not use rubber or latex gloves in the kitchen or rely on condoms for birth control!
Better not use many drugs either as Stearic acid ( Sodium Stearate) is widely used in medicine again as a mould release agent for capsules , which are moulded from gelatine another animal product!
Looks to me like a shopkeeper trying to hop on the band wagon with a 'free' marketing idea.

I also hope veggie's dont drink wine, as wine gets its clarity from a process using Isinglass, a substance obtained from the dried swim bladders of fish.
^^^^ that also applies to ales! :-)
There is vegan wine on the market.

Being vegan sounds like hard work.
not always RATTER. This is a vegan wine list so deffo veggie

and even jolly old tesco are in on the act

Well apparently they dont have to declare isinglass in the ingredients as it is no longer present in the wine at point of sale, just during the processing, so I'm not so sure!

I am sure that the people concerned will know.
I came up with this on trip advisor ...
'Given that this is NOT a Vegan cafe, and happily sells animal products (EGGS for example) to customers to EAT, it is ludicrous (and ILLEGAL) to refuse to accept a NON-EDIBLE £5 note for payment. '
Their menu seems to be no longer available on the web.

eddie "Plastic is made from oil , Hydro Carbon oil same as petrol and diesel, NOT animal oil T T T. " - yes and what made hydro carbon oil eddie? yep dead sea creatures, so oil is a major animal product!

Danny, i think the confusion has arisen because the owners claim to be veggie but their "no animal products" stance is a trait of Vegans so we are not really sure. If they where standard veggies they would not be objecting to all animal products.
Let us not forget that organic vegetable are often grown on animal waste products, not to mention that they may also contain insect larvae or parasites.

I can see a lot of vegans walking around naked starving to death after reading this thread!
