At this stage of his career and in his desperation to win a third WDC he'd probably do it for less.

Shame Nico Hulkenburg isn't available. Would cost a lot less and give Mercedes the German angle.
How about Paul di Resta taking up the second car?
Toto Wolff must have burn marks on his phone hand...

Naa - i can't see Alonso getting the drive .

Remember Alonso quit Mclaren , because a certain young Whipper Snapper called Lewis Hamilton was out performing him and would not roll over and play the understudy .

We saw some friction between LH & NR - that would be nothing compared to the friction that would occur , between Alonso and Hamilton ,at Mercedes .
I don't think that the Mercedes would want that

"Disgraceful IMO all other drivers should be allowed to compete against the current champion."

Just as a point of comparison, in GP2 te previous season's champion is not allowed to compete in the series the following year.
Nah, thinking about this, engage Jensen for a year and bring through one of the youngsters from underneath. Verstappen will be too pricey as to his contract.
It's a bit shocking... he won the championship then retired?! Guess you can't get better than that!
