I have been watching Watching this evening and the piece on the special specs that both Boots and Vision Express were fobbing people off with was very worrying.

Despite Watchdog proving that there was no evidence of damage to the eyes due to "blue light", Boots and Vision Express both still continued to deny that they were at fault in any way. My own Optician, an old family firm, told me in January that the blue light thing was just a scare and a scam to get you to spend more money.

In the same program, there was a piece about the usual wide-boy shyster, this time in chairs for people with medical conditions, the sort of things Matt Albright is a master at uncovering. There were all the usual sharp practise going on, and I don't expect anybody was at all surprised by this in any way.

The difficulty with the glasses scam, was that both companies are well-known High Street names and Boots especially has been going to yonks. It really shouldn't be happening to retailers of this calibre...or should it ?

If we are not safe in Boots, where are we safe ?

As gingerbread says, the problem is not one of blue light making you tired, but of it preventing you from sleeping well.
That said, I've found that using apps to filter it out of my displays just cause me to strain my eyes.

F.lux, a screen colour changing app that apparently needs to track your location ???
It changes the screen colour according to the time of day.
The reason it wants your location is so that it can synchronise with the hours of daylight where you are. Nothing sinister in that.
My mobile knows the time, we set the schedule ourselves.
you get what you pay for, simple as that.
^^however, this thread was about getting something (unnecessarily) that you were over-paying for....
That's the point, Ginge, people are not getting what they are promised for their money
I don't think much of boots. Their products give my younger daughter terrible allergies. Never used their optical services though as I use Specsavers
