I wasn't sure whether it made sense to try November for some twitching - it seemed a bit late in the season.

But I've seen eagles migrating, purple swamp hens being ... purple swamp hens, and lots of small colourful jobs that need some positive ID work done from the happy snaps I've taken.

The highlight (?) however was seeing the video of Poncho the Parrot when I met up with gness and the wine bibbers last night ... quite extraordinary.

happy sunny dave :)

When we were in Madeira recently, not too far from Portugal, we spent a lovely afternoon walking through the town and ended up in a streetside park which contained an open air market. 20ºC by day is brilliant - just the ticket for walking and pottering about.

But if you could sort out the twilight mozzies that have just had a feast on my luscious flesh then that would be just peachy ....
Hi sunny-dave

Just back this week from 10 day holiday break and wedding ( which was superb) in Lanzarote and seems all of us who went were ignored by the Canadian Mozzies .......28c most days and sunny.....not one bite....even we were surprised.

They may have been over on a Mozzies break on nearby Fuerteventura, which we had a perfect view of each morning. :-)

Friggin spell checker.....Canarian not Canadian!!

When we were in Madeira recently, not too far from Portugal, we spent a lovely afternoon walking through the town and ended up in a streetside park which contained an open air market. Walking around, we could hear this very loud bird call and kept stopping to stare into the trees to try to locate this elusive bird. The only things we could see were pigeons but the bird calls continued.

After a fruitless search we sat on a bench with an ice cream. We were joined by a young woman and, on hearing the call again, I asked her what kind of bird it was. She replied, 'It's the man with the stall selling wooden bird callers.' Cheep, cheep!

We felt such fools :-)

V good tilly - have a BA as a consolation prize :)
Thank you, Dave. :-)
the wooden birds of Madeira are famous for their camouflage, Tilly, it's no wonder you couldn't spot them.
