We have older style spotlights in our kitchen, the type that screw into a recessed fitting. The bulbs they take used to be called R53s. Someone has told me I can get LED replacements that will just 'plug and play' without changing the actual fitting - is this correct?

If it is a screw fitting you have then it seems unlikely to me you could use some for of push-in or bayonet fitting lamp in it.

Maybe asked those who told you if they can get one for you ?
I think you may mean R63 Prudes. R53 is a car bulb I think.

Follow Zac's link or go to Ledhut.co.uk and type R63 into the search box.
You probably have a branch of Screwfix not too far away...pop in and get them!

Thank you and sorry yes, R63 and although they are currently unavailable Zac's link shows it is possible and gingebee's that I can get them at screwfix. I assume they will last much longer than the ones I have which seem to blow every 3 months?.
Thanks for BA. Yes, much much longer. Make sure you get the 'warm' white ones tho.
You still need to screw those in.
She knows that OG. 'Plug and play' just means it's a simple fix.
