and sell only to approved organised displays. I thought I'd try to get a few signatures after reading yet another sad story, this time of a horse dead because of thoughtless people and fireworks.

Here is the petition, please sign for a ban which I believe is long overdue.

VE - I understand that my dog is utterly terrified by fireworks. As were my cats before him and my two dogs before them. In fact, I have never owned an animal that wasn't traumatised by fireworks. When you've sat with an animal that shakes uncontrollably with fear when fireworks are exploding outside, you'll understand my disdain for them and for the...

Fair enough jno. Perhaps charging enough to cover the staging of the event is not a bad idea.
I enjoy bonfire night in my back garden with my family & grandkids, and we all look forward to, the barb-cue with hot potato's, sausages etc, and of course, yours truly letting off the fireworks in a safe environment.

And when I was a kid, it was one of the best nights of the year.

So ladybird, sorry wont be signing.
I loved the annual bonfire party in my garden when I was little, my kids enjoyed it and now my grandchildren enjoy it. We have the lot - bonfire, fireworks, hot potatoes. The fireworks last at the most ten minutes.
The ponies on the other side of the garden fence aren't bothered by them.

My local council display charges £9 each entry, £3 car parking which is fair enough BUT you have to walk through a huge funfair to get to it. There are ponies, horses and cows as well as a petting farm with goats, birds of prey, donkeys etc very close by and neighbouring homes are affected by the noise and the huge traffic jams.

We much prefer our family gathering and so far no neighbours have objected although many have pets.

That's OK trt, not a problem.
Done - 16,564 down, only 83,426 to go.
At least with organised displays one has sufficient notice of times to be able to ensure that the vulnerable are kept indoors. I have nothing against family celebrations for young families either as these are held relatively early in the evening and do not involve massive explosions, or at least they didn't many moons ago when I was a child.
Perhaps a limit on the decibels generated by fireworks and a restriction on their sale before 5 November would be too much to ask for?

I don't see the joy in a Banger at all and never did misslead. But some of the displays we see on the TV at New Year are just stunning.
