I have just watched this BBC 4. I haven't had much luck in posting BBC IPlayer links here on AB these last few days, so just go to the iplayer and put the title in.

This was really fascinating ! In included interviews with the original engineers and workmen on the bridge, which is 50 years ago this year.Loads of footage of the work involved.

Just my kind of program !

Well worth 60 mins of anybodies time Tilly !.........I can thoroughly recommend it
i agree - it was fab and moving too
Mine too, Mikey.

I love most aspects of civil engineering and suspension bridges are a particular interest of mine. Though not a suspension bridge my favourite bridge is the Forth Railway bridge. They are building a visitor centre and the facility for visitors to ascend to the top of one of the cantilevers (360 feet above the water). Can’t wait!
Would be even more fascinating if 'they' built the Severn Barrage instead of the Nuclear generator further down. Cheaper, quicker build time same, less expensive, British design and build and twice the life of the reactor!
Question Author
Yes...I like civil engineering projects as well NJ.

If all had gone to plan, I had ambitions to be a Civil Engineer when I left school in the late 60's. Unfortunately my boredom with school and my Mums needs for extra money coming in didn't really allow that to happen.

A few years ago, when Little Willy and I were much younger and fitter, we walked over the bridge one summer day, had lunch in Aust, and then walked back over again. A long way but, like going down into the Grand Canyon, its been ticked off my bucket list !
Sorry to but in Mikey but Judge is on . Am I right in thinking that you are a steam train and the making of them fan Judge? If so I have a fascinating video and soundtrack that you may enjoy. I will post it if it is of interest. I have tried to get the source links for the video but no luck.
Question Author
Togo...I would like that as well !
Okay Mikey. I have posted it before . Even if the soundtrack isn't for you the video is fascinating. 45 minutes long Mikey.

Yet another really good programme on BBC4 - a great channel, full of interesting stuff. Worth the licence fee on its own.
mikey; I'm sure you approve of the fact that though you have to pay to get into Wales, it's free to get out.
Khandro most of the "people down there" would pay Mikey to get out. Haha
Question Author
Togo....thanks for the clip ! Actually, the soundtrack wasn't too bad after all !

Message for New Judge, and other Choo-choo Trainiacs over on Chatterbox !
Fascinating video Togo - thanks.
I am glad you liked it. I have spent hours trying to source the video content which must be buried in the Film Institute archives, but to no avail. Just a tip, the music combo Public Service Broadcasting have a number of great videos and tunes up on You Tube, and I would recommend you give them a once over. Go is particularly good, so I have posted it.
