Naomi, I'm not sure where they are living. It could be right next door but the facts don't seem to be available. The best I can do is my earlier BBC link which says that will be living in old Gendarmeries (?), Holiday villages etc.

Thanks allen. The majority of people on here just come on to take pot shots at people they have a grudge against. It's making the site very depressing.
I don't know the logistics of this so it is hard to comment, moving a large number of people into a small village in what is being descibed as a 'camp' would obviously unsettling - just as it would be to me (if there were room near me).

Moving a few people into various places is rather different and yes I have that here where I am, most are pleasant if not all of them fluent - but we pass the time of day somehow with no problem.
Zacs-Master, If that’s true, to accommodate over 7000 people (reports vary - some say up to 10,000) there must be a lot of ‘old Gendarmeries (?), Holiday villages etc’ in France.

There’s a certain irony in your post at 22:32. ;o)
Naomi, I seem to be one of the very few who have posted anything remotely like a fact in an effort to answer the OP. If you have anything other than opinion and speculation, please post it.

I note you found my criticism ironic rather than untrue. Interesting.
Don't hold your breath Zacs.

Gd day Oz, u ok? one Q for you, is this right / wrong, my brother was talking about the abbo's whilst we were there on the subject of housing, he was saying the abbo;'s have the first choice & if given a house one of the first things they do is remove doors, floor boards etc, there was a case up near his area of QLD, do you read any reports of this?
There are some areas where the indigenous do not live very well Twr.

In the most it is blown out of proportion.

I have many indigenous friends that I admire, respect, like and would do anything for.

Then there are some white people........I rest my case your honour ;-/

Depends on the attitude and the upbringing.

What's on your cards today?
About to drag dinner out of the oven nearly 7:00pm here.

Have a good 'un Twr.
The immigrants can not integrate into the society, whose government has welcomed them in, without having the accommodation etc. available to the natives. So the act was the best the French government could do since they were stupid enough to have signed up to things that allow folk to wander into their country 'by right'.

As to how it will affect the natives, that remains to be seen. I'd predict the obvious middle ground where some places will work whilst others cause friction. I also consider it a possibility that a portion of the immigrants will join up and go try to make another camp near the channel ports, and the locals where they had been relocated will no longer see them.

the sky has gone Black here, typical UK, looks like it's going to Izz down, hv a good one.
My daughter lived in Oz for 2 years. Her and her friends were refused to be served in a bar for being Irish!
Zacs-Master, from you at 14:37 Tue. // I don't think it's fact that these people will be living next door to anyone.//

Migrants are being housed in French towns and villages.

//I note you found my criticism ironic rather than untrue.//

Oh definitely ironic rather than untrue – although I’m not sure it applies to ‘the majority of people’, but certainly to many. Only a few weeks ago irrational demands from you for my responses led me to suggest you put me in the dock – and if you want another example of someone with a problem look no further than 1ozzy’s post at 08:18 Thu. ;o)

TWR....they were asked for ID and when they showed their passports they were refused for being Irish..

That's bad, I've worked alongside the Irish, I've driven with them, they are funny as I've said on here in the past, they make jokes out of them self when other people would never dream of doing that.
