23 inches from armpit to armpit. This is my size and I take a tape measure with me when I go shopping for t-shirts because different makes have different sizes. My family think i'm mad and laugh at me for taking the measure with me, but I don't care lol, I like to get it right. Good luck and get yourself a tape measure!!

As others have said it varies from manufacturer. Best is to try it on. I have bought from them in the link and their sizes are exactly as it says on the guide but many others are nothing like you would expect.
