went to my own GP today and he showed me the report on the screen that the radiographer had sent my consultant. I have a 1cm raised area at the tail of my pancreas causing a blockage and the radiographer has said the most likely cause is a stone. My GP told me that it has been sent to a case conference between consultants and radiographers as my consultant is not happy with the diagnosis of a stone by the radiographer. I am looking at surgery if it is a stone because the tail is right at the bottom of the pancreas. I am trying to stand strong and not worry but I am a bit nervous about it all. I am really worried that this 1cm raised area is malignant and not a stone.

Only expected you are concerned Gordie, all you can do now is keep as positive as possible while further investigations are discussed.

I hope it turns out to be better than you fear.
I know that i have told you previously that in future i will refuse to post on your threads as you are one of the worst offenders in never giving feedback or indeed answering pertinent questions.
However in this case i will make an exception as the response has been poor.
The diagnosis is between cancer and a stone. Both are unusual in the pancreas and as for cancer, the vast majority of tumours are in the head or body of the pancreas, the tail providing the site for less than 10%.

So, the odds on favourite is a stone and cancer being less than 10% common in a already uncommon cancer site,

The signs are with you.

thank you sqad that is reassuring I am hoping they can remove it by ERCP rather than a general. He seemed keen on removing it for some reason. The only symptom I have had is 10 weeks of constant diaherra GP suspects pancreatic stone is the problem and he thinks the hospital will move quickly in dealing with it??

PS I am sorry if I have upset you by not replying to threads it was rude and wrong of me and I apologise sqad
I hope it all goes well for you gordie. Good luck.
Nice response geordie....apology accepted and the slate now wiped clean.

ERCP might be difficult in this situation (tail if pancreas) but you Endoscopist will make an informed decision.

Good luck.
Oh my :-(.good luck Gordie.

I am terrified of a general anaesthetic if needed never had one before
Most of us are the first tome Gordie, but the pre med really does help and you'll be supported throughout should you need one.

I wish you well.
^ Time, sorry - too late for typing. Night.
geordie, try not to worry. The anaesthetists know what their doing ( they do it several times a day ).
