Draw the curtains, put the lights on, turn up the heating and snuggle down. Winter is on its way. Went into Morrisons today and the shelves are full of Christmas cakes and mince pies. I think the first week in December would be early enough don't you?

No, it is a reference to the old Collect prayer for the last Sunday before Advent:

Stir up, we beseech thee O Lord, the wills of thy faithful people; that they, plenteously bringing forth the fruit of good works, may be of thee plenteously rewarded.

The reference to stir and fruit was a reminder to start making Xmas puddings.
Ah,right!
My local inn was fully booked for Christmas 2016, errrr....by the end of Christmas Day last year.

I love fresh sprouts, steamed for six minutes, a twist of fresh ground pepper and a knob of butter over them....
Re: Site problems it's been crashing on my Tab 4 browser for the last fortnight every time I visit, with constant reloads that don't happen.
I'm now using the AdBlock browser and it's going well so far.
