When MrsO received the gift of a kidney life changed dramatically for her. The kidney was a perfect match and worked straight away........she felt better than she'd done for years.....she had a new life and was loving it.

Her death was tragic......she fell and banged her head badly......the drugs she was taking to protect her new kidney caused her to bleed heavily and despite surgery to try to stop the bleeding she couldn't be saved.....

Just before she died we had a chat...full of fun, teasing and plans.
She also told me why she had asked that the thread telling us on AB that she'd had a kidney transplant should be removed.

"I want the news to come from me.......I want to tell what it's like to be living on dialysis....sometimes daily dialysis....to feel ill all the time while waiting and hoping for a transplant.....but knowing that another family will suffer if your dream comes true.
I want to be the one who tells how wonderful it is to receive a kidney.....to feel instantly well......and to pee! After years and years of waiting...to know you have a future with your family.....

I want to ask Abers to consider registering to donate organs if they haven't already......

I want it to be my words when they read about it."

I have written MrsO's words for you as best I can.......

I can't tell you how angry I am about her death......It's too hard to come to terms with and even after the beautiful service today....to believe I'll never see her again.......

MrsO wanted no flowers but asked for donations to Kidney Research. You may wish to do so in her memory.....

Much love...Gness....x

She left a massive hole in the lives of so many people. We loved Mrs_O, so God knows how her family must be feeling. Love and hugs to you both xxxx

Can I just echo what gness has said - Mrs O was so full of life and when we spoke after her transplant she was just bubbling with plans for the future.

To have everything ripped away so randomly is cruel behond belief - NoM used a very good word earlier - 'cheated' - Mrs O was, her family are and all her friends on here and elsewhere have been.

I carry a card, and am on the National Register - when I'm gone my bits can be used for anyone, anywhere if it helps.

(sunny) dave xx
Thank heavens you weren't wearing the real ones, although Mrs_O would have loved that x
Thank you for sharing MrsO's words with us and for representing us all at her funeral ...I can understand your anger at a life taken too soon, it's such a waste and there seems no reason to it ...perhaps it helps us to appreciate each other a little more as life is such a tenuous thing...perhaps ....

Anyone is more than welcome to any of my bits they deem useful...I won't need them where I'm going ....

Love to you and Dave and thank you ....skz xx
I cannot rest until I have the chance to say how much this wonderful lady will be missed, rest in peace. xxx
She was a wonderful woman. I never got the chance to meet her but we did chat via email etc. And yes I'm already an organ donor xx
I signed the whole family up online many years ago. My son was quite upset as he said he did not agree with it (why?) but he was told if I was ever asked (as his mum) then he would obviously not be in a position to argue. It should be automatic and not up for debate.
I assumed until I read this post that the cause of her death was transplant failure. Shocking to hear it was the result of a simple accident, complicated by the treatment she was receiving.
As many on here know our son died in January, he was a blood donor for all of his adult life and carried a donor card. He donated his kidneys and heart valves and we have been told that at least 2 people are fit and well because of him. We are so very proud of him but miss him dearly. It's good to know that Mrs O had some quality time due to someones gift to her. Rest in peace Mrs O and if you see my boy give him a hug from me xx
I'm sure she will, masma.
Oh my :-(
Oh am so sorry masma xx
I have a donor card & have instructed my kids to respect my wishes. RIP MrsO, you are sorely missed. Thanx gness & dave for passing MrsO message.

Life can be so cruel :(
Thank you gness and Dave for posting and representing AB.

I am now an organ donor since reading this :)
Masma, your son sounds a wonderful, kind & generous soul for his donations and am sure with our thoughts to MrsO he will receive your kiss. Thankyou Masma for allowing him to help others in his final hour.

Thanks for the sticky, Ed....x

Thank you all for your replies......Tambo for the excellent link and Jubie for registering to donate organs......MrsO would be thrilled to have made a difference.......

To Masma......thank you and your son......you have every reason to be proud of him......

Gx
What a star she was, so brave.

I'm bumping this in case some missed it.......and I want as many as possible to have the opportunity to donate to Kidney Research in her memory... and to join the donor register so MrsO doesn't come back to haunt me....and three others....and forgives us for bringing flowers to her funeral.....

Mind you.....having MrsO around would be bliss for me........Gx
Thanks for the heads up G. I am one of those people who assume that all my organs are passed their use by date so I'll have a chat with my GP to see if there is point, perhaps even for research?
Please give us a new post in Body and Soul though it may be best in CB, when you have details of the Kidney Research site Mrs_O favoured and, hopefully Ed could make it a stickey?
Regards Sibs
Quick question please. What is a sticky? It's been mentioned before.
