Do any of you have these in your area? I am sure they used to be about but they seem to have disappeared in my area.

Just wondering what the most efficient way to get post menopausal advice is?

A nurse practitioner seems a better route than cluttering up a GPs daily appointment load.

No need for sarcasm Sqad, We are not obliged to give thanks for every answer.
Not and never asked for thanks for every answer.
Most people have the courtesy to do so, but it is the same people who are, in my opinion, rude.
It just doesn't happen to me or just Body and Soul, it is becoming more common on Ab.
Its a public forum , relax ,

Get over yourself Sqad.
I'm just curious if the age for starting the menopause is hereditary ie some women go through it when just in their forties and some much much later .
Question Author
My mother was young when she went through the menopause but I was told be a learned member of the medical profession (who must know everything) that there was no association.
When I have issues with periods or any female problems I do not go and see an ENT surgeon...

Not even a long retired one?
Nope - afraid not.
Lol. My mum went through it when she was just 38.

I was 42/3 having flirted with the menopause a few years earlier. My mother was late twenties when she flirted with the menopause although that may have had something to do with her breast cancer and consequential treatment shortly after having me. She had a long time on HRT and despite my reluctance I wonder if I need to explore some sort of HRT or whatever maybe needed to fend off osteoporosis.
Eccles, loads of info re early menopause on the net, a talk with your gp would do no harm.
I would do a lot of research before going on HRT. My mum died of breast cancer and her sister has it (terminally) as well. Personally, I wouldn`t touch it with a bargepole if there is a history in the family

Having had a dose of oestrogen in the past I am cautious given the side effects I suffered.

A GP appt is called for at some point.
Or, if you are due a cervical smear test the staff may be helpful.
I'm 46 and mentioned to the smear test nurse that I was having hot flushes and night sweats. She said I was a bit young to be going through menopause, but not too impossible. I think my mum was about the same age.
I was thinking about asking the doc for HRT, but don't know what to do now, so I'm with Eccles on this one.
