// The resources,manpower and cost is phenomenal.//

yeah I was in charge of a blackpool phun run in 1987
and so I got a free ride in a police car
but not for long
and got an ear full of how people like me should sit at home
and police would find policing of Blackpool just so so much easier

like dive biiddy but in real life - uniform and cap and so on
complete party poopa

sudduv like if people stopped shooting themselves or other people
slashing god knows whom
and stopped walking in front of cars or jumping off buildings

then we could close casualties and A+E departments and forget about 24 h running of the NHS

yeah
Four stabbings on 'Children's Day', great fun that.

Perhaps they should rename it the 'Notting My Front Garden Carnival'
I think the Evening Standard could have worded their headline a little differently.

/// Notting Hill Carnival: Thousands expected for Grande Finale after five stabbings and 100 arrests on first day ///

Blimey as if Kids Day as wasn't bad enough, so what have they planned to draw the crowds in for the Grand Finale?

^ maybe some kind of version of 'It's a Knockout' where the winning team is the one who fills their cylinders up with the most blood?
While the Telegraph and the Evening Standard reported on the stabbings and other crimes :

/// These included two alleged sexual offences, 50 drugs offences, 20 counts of possession of offensive weapons, four counts of actual bodily harm, two of grievous bodily harm, one alleged theft and one public disorder. ///

/// By 7pm today, on what is known as the carnival's "Children's Day", police had arrested 71 people, and seized 20 knives. ///

/// Police said some suspects had been detained for more than one offence, with 50 drug arrests having been made, and 20 people detained for carrying knives. ///

The Guardian chose to report:

/// Notting Hill carnival revellers complain of bureaucracy ///

/// Limits to festivities, which have become stricter as area has gentrified, draw criticism: ‘now everything’s regulated’ ///
As usual, AOG is economical with the truth.
The Guardian have reported the stabbings just like every other newspaper.

It is an easy thing to check, so why try to mislead us?

Please tell me where I have been economical with the truth?

I only copied and pasted what the three newspaper chose to report on, so please don't try to shoot the messenger.

/// The Guardian have reported the stabbings just like every other newspaper. ///

That may well be but there was no such link when I googled 'Notting Hill Carnival'.

/// It is an easy thing to check, so why try to mislead us? ///

No one is trying to mislead you or anyone else for that matter, I will leave it to the Guardian to carry out that little job.
I wonder what odds Londoner Ray Winston is giving today, for how many people get stabbed.

I reckon about 6/1, that there's two!!
