If this happens again, get the name of the company he represents. Then look up the company. When my father went into a nursing home, we found amongst his papers some letters about several kinds of shares, saying he should sell them for such-and-such amounts of money. We thought they were scams, but they turned out to be genuine, since the companies concerned had been merged or taken over or amalgamated ( or something) . Because there had been a delay ( father had lost his grip on his affairs ) we paid some small penalty, but there were some thousands of pounds in it for his (eventual ) estate.
atalanta is right that there are buy back schemes
BUT they write to you
and never ring

I had one ring for 21 consecutive days
and altho his name was 'Charleh' he wouldnt give his surname or company as it was data protection
Ask for the company address and tell him to write to you.
Barratt Dev (BDEV.L) and he was offering 1300p a share lol
They are at a post Brexit high at the moment of 500p per share and even pre Brexit they only hit a 52 week high of 673p a share.
