I've been asked to look after a friends work FB account to help promote his business. Someone who used to work for him created the account, friend never actually checked it. We've found the page on FB but he can't get into it for me to take over as he has no idea of the log in details and has lost touch with the colleague.any ideas??

Smow, you don’t have to get into it
1. create the new account that dipstick bloke wants. Write down the log in details and put them in three places :)
2. You know what the old account was called so you can go look at the page. Then follow the instructions on the link
I say again CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT FIRST. You don’t need to get into the old account, if facebook believe you they will do that for you.

How can I create a new account ? I can't use my details as I've already got one. I can't use his as he's already got one. Or am I making up a name etc??
use something that is similar to his...does he have a middle name? use that and his surname. Its not difficult to get hold of an additional email. Does his business have a name that could be used as part of the person name?
or use his own name spelt differently

Ah ok will try that

Sorry for appearing so thick - this is just driving me nuts!!

Ok guys - bit more info but don't think it will help lol. This FB seems o be a page and not an account as when I've looked closer it has no friends listed or the option to friend, just to like it. So it appears that this virtual support company who are no longer in business have created the page with their own log in details.
okay, pages are different. Most pages have a facility to add a comment, can you look and see if you can do this?
Have you tried to create anew page using the same name as the old one? What happens? Its possible that you may be told that you can’t do this and that there may be an option in that to report the other page.
If you can create a new page with the same details AND you can make unmoderated comments on the old page, then you can leave a comment on the old page saying page moved with a link to the new page.
If you would like me to set up a throwaway email so you can send me the page details to look at, am happy to do so, just shout.

Ahh that's brilliant. Hang on I'll try and find my old random email...

Smow I know the address works but I haven’t received your email yet
gotcha....will do what i can and get back to you :)
Is it possible that the ex colleague who created it likely to be someone who set up the account with an email address that they would still have access to?

If so, you could try messaging on Facebook in the hope that they will get the notifications and get in contact with the details.

If it could have been a work email address they used, would your friend have access to that email account to try and get the password reset?
If there is a mod around, could they delete my email address please?
many thanks mod!
