I Have noticed that many GB Olympian Medal Winners have been acknowledging the National Lottery, is this a genuine statement of gratitude or is their some contractual obligation?

I'd like to think their thanks are genuine, am sure they fully appreciate the funding.

If there is a contractual arrangement too then it really doesn't matter.
The post (Bronze) win interview with Christine Ohuruogu et al of the 4x400m runners included the telling phrase "I'm not just saying this because I have to..." before extolling the virtues of National Lottery funding for their sport.
at least some of them have manners.......
I like to believe that they are genuinely thanking US (rather than Camelot) for buying the Lottery tickets and helping them achieve their goals.
Ken - I think it goes hand in hand.
I think it's great that they acknowledge any-one (or Body) who has helped them to get there and achieved greatness in their chosen sport.

I'm am proud and have really enjoyed watching our athletes and they have done us proud again. Well done Ladies and Gents.
