Hi all, I'm a bit out of touch on car care products, I have just bought an ex-police vehicle, can someone enlighten me as to what is the best product to remove the residue 'glue' left from them, the police , removing their 'patches and go-faster stripes'. I don't want to have to use 'T-Cut' if I don't have to. Any pointers appreciated, P

I've used this in the past to remove sticky residue from an old car and it worked at treat. Rub on and leave for 5 minutes then wash off using a different cloth on the affected areas.

Wash & rinse the car after using the product as you would normally do.

Thanks,Fanriffic, looks like a trip to Halfords for me, I hope they give 'quantity' discount, P
Do a small area patch test first - and if you are happy with the results continue with the rest of the car. Important that you fully wash off the product once finished using hot soapy water and a sponge.

Should the product not meet your expectations - it's always handy for removing sticky stuff from other items as mentioned on the bottle. Stick it under your kitchen sink. Good luck.
For adhedive left by stickers, white spirit will soften it and then you can scrape it off with your finger nail.

White spirit? Scrape off with fingernail? Just the way NOT to treat car paintwork.....
Does anyone have any solutions for fingermarks on the bodywork of a car, metallic finish? They seem to be around the door frames and the boot lid and are driving me mad.
I am guessing here that methylated spirits may be useful, as you need something to dissolve the gluey residue.

Just don't be tempted to drink it !
I give the nice guys at the local Lithuanian car wash a few extra quid - they do a great job even the headlamp sticker residue left over from headlamp diverters.
We have a super car-wash in my village, although its generically referred as the Turks Boys !

And I agree...they do a smashing job, while all the white, Welsh, unemployed men are still in bed.
