The problem started recently, so I imagine it's down to some button I was conned into clicking

'character Replacement Event'. Rapport Informs Me There Have Been 5 Of These.

Here's the official answer from Facebook:
"Suggested posts are a type of ad that you can see, and it's not possible to block ads on Facebook. Ads help keep Facebook free and we strive to only show ads that are relevant and interesting to you."

Thanks Buenchico, but why have I been plagued by those ads only for the past week or so?

This is what I use. It's a browser extension that allows virtually unlimited customisation of FB (not available for mobiles, or the FB App - only for desktop browsers that allow extensions).
