Or so I thought. On the bottom of the tin it says Use By Jan 2006. I'm glad I didn't throw it away.

I wonder if that's a record, 10 years over the Use By ain't bad in my book.

Guess the proof was if it killed the fly ?
Like the proof was when I opened a tin of pears that was 7 years past date and eat them. The wife looked on in horror , but they were fine.
I always thought tinned food did not expire for decades ?
Unless there is a leak or tin damage they do last for ages. The stuff inside is cooked in the can to kill any bugs and afterwards it isn't exposed to the exterior world so tends not to deteriorate much.
If the spray had a use by date clearly it is a young product. It's this millennium for goodness sake !
Food programme the other day, Andy, they tested a tin of sardines that were 45 years old and absolutely nothing wrong with.
It may have killed the fly but wait until your windows fall out/wallpaper peels off.
I take use by dates with a big pinch of salt. Yoghurts taste better a week alter, carrots can last a month after, canned foods can be okay a few years after, and so I'd happily use a 10 year old non-edible item like a fly spray.-

One squirt only andy, dead, deceased even;-)

Don't know why they label non edible stuff at all then OG. Waste of time.

Call me a wimp but I'd have to be absolutely ravenous to eat sardines let alone 45 years old ones.

Don't your carrots go bendy after about 8/9 days ff?
Perhaps the fly couldn't read:-)
I wouldn't either, LB, even with the scientists testing it and giving it the ok.

And there's this....what a romantic fella!

I have just fried two flies with my new tennis racquet - great job.
