I live with an emotional vampire, I have a friend who likes to talk about herself all the time, I live next door to a know it all and my sister is an authoritarian ( good hearted) but no opinions are as good as hers. Good job she lives out the country!

People who feel obliged to over-compensate for their inferiority complexes by putting you down all the time. Trying desperately to make themselves feel superior. Only last night I joined my regular pub meeting, for the ( usual) one to sneer at the fact that I was wearing a hat. She has been known to sneer at a mention of the crime rate in certain countries well-known for vicious crime; sneering about a very insecure child's clingy behaviour - she never misses a chance to put people down. My solution to some of these sneers is to speak to others in the group in a language she doesn't know. Not much she can sneer about if she doesn't understand what we are saying.
