Online shopping - Supermarkets. Which ones are the best?

I tried a few a good many years back and was not happy at the crappy use-by dates on everything - so many things were just a day before!
I live alone so this was especially annoying when i had only a day or so to eat, say, 12 things, i'd normally expect me to last a week or so.
they had basically been palming off all their stuff
So frustrating.
I did complain and i assume many other people probaby did too, as im sure it happened a lot

so any recommendations?
thanks

my daughter-in-law swears by Ocado, she's been using them for over a year now for her weekly shop for a family of 4, she's had a couple of things go wrong but says that the customer service is very good.
I would say Sainsburys...I've used them for years and I've no complaints. Friendly helpful and polite drivers.

I have used Tesco since they started and whilst there have been a few issues they have put them right quickly - you can reject anything that is too short - or contact them and they will refund it and let you keep it.
Everyone likes the one they use. Unsure who, if any, has been through the lot of them to judge. Are there no comparisons sites out there on the Web ?
I strongly suspect that it depends more on the particular supermarket your delivery is made from than the company. In other words, Sainsbury's in Reading may be liked but in Oxford may not be; Tesco in Reading may be hated but loved in Basingstoke as the quality of service may well depend on the attitude of the manager and picking-staff of the shop making up your order. You really need to ask people in your local area which supermarket they find best.
I use Morrisons. Their deliveries come from a distribution centre not a local store. Customer service is excellent. Refunds immediately. A couple of weeks ago a whole bag was missing, they refunded and gave me a £10 voucher for the next weeks shopping! They also do a delivery pass which saves on charges.
i hve used 4 differnt ones - tesco, sinsburys, sda and ocado.
I like ocdo best because they send you a sheet with it telling you what order thngs are going out of date tht you cn attach to your fridge to see easily what you need to eatup. They also don't charge for bags as such (they tke your last ones away and refund you). Tesco allows you to reject anything with a short date (nd identifies it for you so you can decide before driver goes away). Ocado price match tesco
ocdo is also a warehouse type set up - they know exctly what they will have on your delivery day, so
you cnt actually order anything they don't have, so substitutions are at a minimum
Latest Which? report on online food shopping places Iceland at the top, then Waitrose then Ocado. Sainsbury and Asda at the bottom.
It all depends what's important to you...price, range of goods, delivery charge, convenient delivery slots, no substitutions etc.
